PROGRAM:

Emergency Ride Home

The Emergency Ride Home program administered through our agency offers local employees and community senior center members a free ride taxi ride home in case of emergency.

Our agency initially developed this program in the early 1990’s, when it was realized that the number one concern of people willing to use alternative transportation was being stranded without a car in case of emergency.

By offering this program, we are providing “insurance” to people who use alternative transportation. In this way we are reassuring them that they will not be left stranded if they do try an alternative to single occupancy driving, thereby encouraging the use of alternative transportation in our County.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Emergency Ride Home GOALS

1) Reward participants who use alternative transportation to get to work or senior center activities with transportation home in case of emergency;

2) Increase the use of alternative transportation by offering a secured ride home in case of emergency;

3) Increase level of program participation through intensified outreach effort;

4) Conduct outreach to at least two new businesses a month during promotion;

5) Provide as many program participants as possible with emergency rides home over the course of the program, which will be made available until funds are exhausted.
